Business Process Management Software (BPMS)

A suite of software tools that lets analysts or software developers create and monitor the ongoing execution of a business process. In essence these tools are workflow tools extended for modern software environments. A BPMS suite includes tools for analysis, for design, and for runtime execution. They often incorporate business rule capabilities and analytics, and they usually provide managers with information about the ongoing execution of the process. An application built in a BPMS tool that then lets business people or IT manage an ongoing process.
