BPM and Six Sigma: The Bigger Picture of BPM
This month, David Silverstein launches a new Column focused on how BPM works in concert with a variety of methods and tools. He begins with a discussion of Six Sigma and how it can work in lockstep with BPM to generate better results than either method can by itself.

David Silverstein is CEO of Breakthrough Management Group (BMG), the world's fastest-growing performance improvement training and consulting firm. Mr. Silverstein has also appeared on CNN's "Squeeze Play" business television program speaking about "Too Many Chiefs", what he calls "a disturbing trend in corporate America" -- as an alternative to educating current executives, more corporations are hiring Chief Risk Officers and Chief Ethics Officers to fill in the gaps. More recently, he has turned his attention to innovation and business strategy and the identification of cutting edge technology solutions. In his book, INSourcing Innovation,, he talks about how companies need to focus on developing new skills and core competencies, with innovation being at the top of the list. More importantly, INSourcing Innovation talks about how to drive innovation. Aside from his numerous publications, Mr. Silverstein is involved in a number of speaking engagements on those topics. As a highly regarded pubic speaker and author, Mr. Silverstein shares his vision around the globe where he has shared the stage with notable figures such as Jack Welch, Larry Bossidy, Jim McNerney and Steven Covey. Mr. Silverstein holds a dual B.S. in mathematics and physics from Ithaca College. He also earned an M.B.A from George Washington University. Mr. Silverstein is a member and supporter of many organizations and activities outside of Breakthrough Management Group including the Young Entrepreneurs Organization, a volunteer group of business professionals, all of whom are under 40 years of age whose mission is to support, educate and encourage others to succeed in building companies and themselves.
